CONNACHT CUP ACTION UNDER LIGHTS

Tonight finds the Senior team in Connacht Cup action against NUIG at 7pm under the lights in Celtic Park - please come along and cheer the lads on, should be a cracker and there will be a winner on the night, extra time and penalties if the tie finishes in a draw!!

Saturday Night Soccer !!!

This Saturday night sees a return to floodlit football as Boyle Celtic resume their league campaign at home to Ballymote. Kick off is at the earlier time of 7.30pm
Please come down and support the lads.
Sean Kerins men are still in a good position in the league with both City Utd. and Carbury having to travel to Boyle. These fixtures are likely to decide the league one way or the other.

Street League a Roaring Success

The street league organised by Gary Goldrick was a brilliant success. I think all participants and spectators had an enjoyable day. Gary deserves a big thank you from us all for his efforts.
We were fed and watered all day by Sandra McCrann who put in an extremely long day. The food was lovely and the cup of tea always a treat in cold weather. Sandra was assisted throughout by Cyril Calpin and Sean Brennan. When the caterers arrived they were met by a potential crisis of a burst water pipe. Seanie Brennan soon had that under control and the day was saved. Well done all.
Congrats to the eventual winners of the tournament "Mockmoyne".

Street Soccer Tournament

The Battle of Boyle Soccer Street Tournament
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the original “Battle of Boyle” soccer tournament. Down through the years, huge crowds were drawn from all over Boyle to the Pleasure Grounds to support their respective teams.

This year on Tuesday the 28th of December, Boyle Celtic F.C. has decided to renew this tradition by hosting a single day tournament kindly sponsored by Drumderrig Nursing Home at Celtic Park, Boyle. The club’s astro turf will be the new venue for this 7-a-side tournament. Each team will be led by a “celebrity manager” from the town.
Festivities will kick off at 10am with the semi-finals of the competition commencing at 6pm sharp.
Football and numerous other activities including table tennis and children’s games will ensure an entertaining day out for the whole family.
Food, football and family fun is guaranteed!! Come along and support your corner of the town!!!
Here’s a quick rundown of the teams involved:


Assylinn Athletic aka Boyle Celtic Legends
Fresh off their calendar shoot these men will be looking to use their century of experience to inflict some damage in this tournament. Lead by Jim Feighan these boys will be fierce underdogs.
Mockmoyne Celtic
From the birthplace of football in Boyle, Mockmoyne are a youthful but talented team under the guidance of Boyle Celtic Legend Seanie Brennan, could well be a darkhorse to win the crown.
Termon
Dallas is sure to have these lads in good shape. With many of their players part of the Boyle Celtic Senior team Tarmon will go into this tournament as firm favourites.
The Warren
With Boyle Celtic Reserve manager Kevin Mullen in charge The Warren are sure to be a well organised side. Skippered by Martin “Vinnie Jones” Mullen the Warren will be a no-nonsense tough tackling side.
Forest View
Captained by ex Sligo Rovers and current over 40s player Owen O’ Donaghue, Forest View have a group of experienced players and are sure to be serious title contenders.
Church View
With an abundance of attacking finesse Church View will fancy their chances of lifting the trophy. Led by ex-Carbury, ex-Glenview and current Boyle Celtic player Raymie Maughan , Church View have a well balanced group of players.
Deerpark
With the Sligo/Leitrim top goalscorer on their side, goals shouldn’t be a problem for Deerpark. “English” Chris and Brendan “The Brick Wall” Simons will provide a solid defence.
Great Meadow
These country folk are guaranteed to be well represented with a few out of towners hoping to cause a town upset. This could be the only serious football Bolye Celtics’ Ballinameen contingent will play all year!

Training Cancelled

Due to the Big Freeze, training for all teams is cancelled. Please check with your manager before attending training.
Please also note it is vitally important that the correct footwear is worn, especially on the all-weather pitch. Studs and blades on football boots can do great harm to the all-weather surface, especially in cold, frosty conditions so we have to insist on trainers or astro-turf footwear only.
