Commiserations to Boyle Celtic

Commiserations to the Boyle Celtic senior team after they were beaten 2-1 on Sunday in the BestWestern Sligo Southern Hotel SuperLeague title decider.

Niall Brennan equalised just before half-time after Gareth Kelly had scored for the visitors and it was all to play for in the second half. A great save by City keeper Martin Ward denied Dessie Carlos putting Boyle ahead before Damien Scanlon’s lovely lob grabbed victory and all the spoils for City.

A late chance for a draw from a corner was headed just wide by John Connolly and confirmed Boyle as runners-up for the second year in a row. It was also their first defeat in the league this season which proves how well they performed throughout the campaign.

Very well done and commiserations to Gerry and all the lads.

Finally, many thanks for the incredible support for the lads – the large crowd produced a great atmosphere for such an important fixture, we'll see you all again next season as the lads go again for the title.

Condolences to the Grehan family

Boyle Celtic FC extends deepest sympathies to the Grehan family following the recent death of Mary – may she rest in peace.

Thank you Sligo Rovers

Many thanks to Sligo Rovers for laying on the coaching workshop last week which was attended by four of our youth squad coaches. They have all spoken highly of the workshop and we really appreciate the time given to them by Sligo Rovers - special thanks to Ciaran Kelly for organising the event.

Thank you Real Tubber

Many thanks to Real Tubber FC from our two U11 panels who finished the season last week with matches in Tubbercurry. It was a very nice touch from Real Tubber to lay on refreshments for all the teams playing that evening and was very much appreciated by us all in Boyle Celtic.

SuperLeague title decider in Boyle this Sunday

The BestWestern Sligo Southern SuperLeague title decider will take place in Boyle this Sunday, 19th May, as Boyle Celtic take on City Utd at 11am

Following last night's victory over Calry Bohs, reigning champions City are now 2 points behind Boyle with one game in hand. This is Boyle's final league match of the season so a Boyle victory would clinch the title for the first time since 2001.

Should the match finish in a draw, Boyle's title chances will depend on City's result against St Johns in their final league match with City needing a win to take the title.

Very best wishes to Gerry and the lads – your support will be very much appreciated.

Boyle Celtic U11s Derby Day

Congratulations to the Boyle Celtic U11 squads (Black & Blue) who played out a great match last Saturday evening when they met in a very entertaining and high-quality derby. Whilst the Black might have come out on top, it was a case of small details and the Blue can also be very proud of the way they played.

The event was made all the more special with the party atmosphere generated by the parents and spectators and is very encouraging for the future of the club.

A huge well done to everyone involved and more of the same next season, please!!
